Michael Höpfners künstlerische Arbeit beschreibt die Erfahrung von Wanderungen durch Wüstenlandschaften und dünn besiedelte Gegenden von der Ukraine bis Westchina, Kirgistan bis Südkorea. Sein künstlerischer Prozess begann mit der physischen und mentalen Erforschung dieser geografischen Räume; in neuen Arbeiten steht das Nachdenken über Konzepte von Ort, Realität, Umwelt und Natur im Mittelpunkt.

Michael Höpfners work focuses on the experience of travelling on foot through desert landscapes or sparsely inhabited areas from the Ukraine to Western China, from Kyrgyzstan to South Korea. His artistic process started out with the physical and mental explorations of these geographical spaces and in later works evolved to reflections on concepts of reality, location, environment and nature.
